Text reads:
What’s the difference?
RULE: “I say you HAVE to do thing”
AGREEMENT: “we say we will both do thing together”
BOUNDARY: “I don’t do thing I don’t want to do”
A lot of people don’t know that they and their partners are actually separate entities, which blurs the line between making RULES for others, and personal BOUNDARIES.
(person chewing on partner’s face: “We are one!! The only way my body’s needs can be met is if I’m in control of what your body does!”, partner responds: “Love is grand”)
“So first we need to know where our partners end and we begin…
(partners both saying "I am here” while touching their own chests).
“And then we can start to notice what our own needs and boundaries actually are!”
partner saying: “I can get my needs met regardless of what your body is doing over there, because I can always decide what’s best for MY body to be doing over here!”, partner responds “And so can I”
